Maybe Beverly Hills PD is higher, but cost of living also much higher around there.
LASD regular Deputy made 487k last year with a lot of OT. The larger agencies in California pay bank and the pensions are incredible. Fed’s pensions are crap.

Definitely the federal OIG’s, such as FDIC. Special Agent $170-250k. Even higher for management (Supervisor and above).

I retired fairly recently from a first-line supervisor role, sometimes acting second line.
If you enjoy being on call frequently, lots of last-minute travel, unpredictable schedules, and dealing with chasing down the mistakes of incompetent subordinates, it’s a great job.
I thought I’d do it until I was old and grey…I lasted seven months beyond my 20 years. Allllllll done with that crap. I was debt-free for years and had no desire to make more money; I can’t put a price on my sanity and wanted to be with my kids when they grew up.
I took a year off from life to help a friend start a business, then returned to the workforce. It was a mental vacation long overdue.
