When I was at IBM, we were allowed to use the rate for personal rentals. Even our spouses as well.
Usually nothing. A lot of APAC hotels ask for ID at check in as proof.
Federal rates in the US are often checked
What about for car rentals?
I’ve only been asked once before I was a Hertz Gold member
I have never personally had a car rental company ask for proof. Occasionally hotels, especially internationally.
Never been asked, I use a few others. Corporate codes for airlines are most useful (and hardest to find). For personal travel for Marriott I use accenture code. I find it’s often the best. Anyone else have other suggestions?
I always use ACC for personal travel too 😂
I've found client codes especially when near their headquarters to offer the best rates.
one person i worked with was asked for proof for car rental code. she basically told them to fuck off, who carries business cards anymore, etc. still drove off with the car. i’ve personally never been asked.
i try lots of rates. accenture often has good ones. northrop grumman, mckinsey, and bcg are others i’ve used both for personal and professional travel. never been asked to show ID.
Personally I would not risk with a company discount code on a car rental. If you get into an accident, you could be on the hook for all the charges, since many companies are self-insured
Insurance is typically included in the rate code and that’s one of the advantages to using it - so if you’re going to waive the insurance at the counter might as well just skip the corporate rate and go with the AAA, Costco or some other non-corporate code
