Personally I have opted not to make this publicly visible as I don’t see it as beneficial in my case. The status settings also allow you to share this with just recruiters which I have opted into .

Curious to see if anyone has found it useful to set this status publicly.

Looks desperate

I’ve never seen a client side recruiter say they think it makes candidates look desperate. The only people I’ve seen saying it does are 1) external recruiters who’d miss out on commission if a candidate is directly sourced by employers 2) by coaches who would miss out on selling services if candidates are directly sourced by employers

I get more inquiries with open to work and open to recruiters both turned off.

Its does not help or hurt… it really is just an overlooked extra

I think the popular opinion is that it makes you seem desperate ( harsh words i know!)

Will there be any impact if I don't perform as per their expectations?
Will it be of any benefit to me if work in voluntary project? Will HR recognize this project contribution as valid work?

I’ve been working for my State Farm agency as a team member for 2 years. I am licensed in property and casualty as well as life and health, but only make $13 an hour. I technically can make bonuses but I’m not supposed to dig into a sale and I have to send it to a sales rep (I am service and retention mostly). My boss also has me running a retired agents office until a new one is chosen (its an hour away with no pay increase or mileage pay). Also, no benefits! Should I start job searching?
