By definition part of your job is SUPPORTING YOUR TEACHERS. Have a backbone!
Donβt coddle to parents. Respect your teachers when they tell you a student is a major behavior problem!
If a kid is dangerous expel them. And use restorative and timely consequences.
I have one student my Principal seems to be protecting from getting kicked out. The student is very manipulative so the parents (more dad) tend to defend him. The parents are divorced, which is good because they canβt even be in the same room. He started off school by getting kicked out of a charter in kindergarten for fighting and hasnβt improved since. He did attend a different school for a few weeks this school year. My class improved with their behavior so much! Now heβs back and worse than ever. There was supposed to be regular meetings with dad and the principal, but that hasnβt happened. Even his friends (posse) donβt want to sit with their backs to him.
Enforce the dress code to prevent inappropriate attire, prohibit cell phones on campus, implement a fair and consistent discipline policy that applies to all students. There are too many distractions during the school day. That, combined with an increasing amount of paperwork, is forcing many good teachers out of the profession. Pretty soon the old saying, "Those who can, do; those who can't, teach" will be sadly true.
Hire lunch monitors!
Please let's begin enforcing rules for dress code, cell phones, and ear buds. Consistently.
Stop being passive aggressive and playing favorites and letting your favorites gossip all day instead of doing THEIR JOBS

Let's dump those endless homework assignments and give the kids some time to actually enjoy their childhood. I'm talking no homework on weekends, a three-day school week, and a mandatory nap time after lunch.
I have done this when I was out of my mind. I told her she had favorite teachers who got all the higher kids. And that she would not like seeing a teacher obviously showing favoritism in the classroom. Did it help? No my class is still seriously stacked with low and behavioral kids. She says itβs whatβs best for the students. Itβs not best for my mental health. And Iβm not being heard. Itβs probably time to switch, but the district has been good to me in other ways. Also my kid attends this district and doesnβt want to change.
Stay in th district but switch schools.
Could you please fire those teachers implementing Doug Reeves grading policy of no fβs and lowering your grade scale. How is a 40% a D? I would also want to ask are your teachers taking several grades a week or just making kids do a long term project thatβs all online. Thatβs another reason why our schools attendance is bad.

I have said a lot to him. The problem is he either doesnβt care or doesnβt listen, but here goesβ¦grow a backbone and stand up to parents. We have policies for a reason. Stop playing favorites by letting those teachers have all the good duties, without seniority. I have way more experience in the classroom than you, but you evaluate me and give me ridiculous suggestions. How about letting me evaluate you at the end of the school year and putting that in your file. Try to be a human with your teachers and show some interest when they are having a problem in and out of the building. Stop with the lip service. If you canβt/wont do something, be honest and upfront. Stop acting like a baby when you donβt get your own way. Open your office door on busy days the same and we have to do. Stop taking hour and a half lunches when we only get 25 minutes, then turn around and tell us we canβt leave 5-10 minutes early for a doctors appointment. Finally, know your placeβ¦youβre most likely passing through, weβre there to stay.

Take your turn at duties! It's frustrating when admin. leaves by 3:30 and I'm still working at 5:30 and on Saturdays.
Iβm sorry you experience this. My admin do not arrive as early as me, but they are usually there for an hour or so after contract hours.

Telling teachers to practice self-care, while not teaching them how and not giving them time to practice it, is essentially adding something else to their plateβ¦and potentially adding to their stress.
Also, blanket emails are ineffectiveβ¦personally address those who are committing infractions.
With one βsmallβ exception of a severely troubled student, I love my Principal.
