What other careers do you catch yourself daydreaming about? I, for one, would have loved acting as I loved theater throughout my life but alas fate had other plans. What's yours?

Interior Design. I love antique furniture, hunting for specific pieces, curating a vibe and color palette in a room. Making a home a place you want to entertain and nest in more than going out elsewhere to find enjoyment.

like

Well I’ve always been into antiques and vintage. I think it’s cause my parents dragged me to flea markets and shows at a young age. It clearly stuck. Today whenever I can upgrade a piece or retire it for something better I find a way to do so. Only problem is I’ve got no more space! Anyone wanna hire me to spend your money to make your pad dope while giving me the deep rooted pleasure of design that I so desperately need?

Trophy wife, not going to lie. Must be nice to go to Pilates and the pool all day.

Same! I just wanna be a rich housewife with a beach property. Is that too much to ask? Lol

like

I’d leave tech sales so fast for a job in basketball or baseball operations lol

One question, if you daydream about a different job why don't you quit that one you have now?

I wish I had written a book. Something with epic fantasy and adventure. It's what I wanted to do before college.

like

That's lovely. Hope you get around to doing it one of these days. Cheers!

It's never too late to start producing. I think the hard thing is to get all the equipment necessary to do a decent job, but there are a lot of bedroom musicians out there who can compete with the best of them. You might be one of them!

Drummer for a rock/metal band. I find myself doing air drums in public too often to ignore what my true calling would have been…

like

That is something we have in common! Loving the arts also made me fall in love with all sorts of music, and my go to would be punk rock. Blink 182 all the way. Hope you still do drumming on the side

Running a daycare (not working in one…owning one). So I just called a business broker to see if I can buy an existing established one as a side gig🤞🏻

Great to hear that you are still following your dream in some way. Kudos to you for taking care of the little ones <3

As noted in a reply above, baseball ops would be my dream. But right now I’m trying to transition careers into a sales role 🤷🏻

well, if baseball is your first love it doesn't really go away right? glad you keep the dream alive. you never know one day you can get close to that dream.

Sounds like you've really thought about this dream of yours. Why not be your own captain though?

Radio Play by play announcer for a MLB team. Travel around the county from April through October then take the winter off and go cycling in southern US states or Australia!

like

Looks like you've thought about that option a lot. Your passion is evident from the way you answer. What's stopping you from pursuing it?

Screenwriter. I adapted a screenplay from a friends book years ago, that actually got agent representation. But it was never sold.

like

that is some talent you have there. it only means you have the potential to and it's only upwards from here on out. What was it about if I may ask?

Luxury Real Estate

I really wanted to be a recording artist and do concerts. I love to perform and at the same time I really love to act and play dramas. But I did not pursue it and I just gave up. I don't think there will be any chance for me to reach that dream career. It's too far-fetched.

I love animals! I find myself constantly thinking about what it could have been like if I just followed my passion, and became a veterinarian.

I forgot to ask the same question back at you! Will you still be chasing theater?

like

in my case, if I wasn't pursuing this career I would probably be a roadie to my favorite band. I don't know I just like the feeling of uncertainty and stability in a sense that we're uncertain where to go next but there is stability because we know wherever we go there will be people attending concerts. I'm not good enough to be in the band, but I would be great at being a roadie ☺️

Yep, that's the one! I find myself rewatching it from time to time. Just for the vibes :)

I’ve been approached my by company that one of our large clients (who im currently project managing for) is looking for a consultant of sorts, and if they hire us, I’d be the first person asked to take on this consultant role. This isn’t something my company typically offers and would greatly change the scope of my role. Has anyone ever taken on a role like this? If so, were you able to negotiate a percentage of the consulting fee? Or was it a bump in salary during the project?

AWS vs Cloudflare BDR roles

AWS lowballed but I negotiated to match Cloudflare. Cloudflare offers more equity but AWS has a higher base.

I love Cloudflare. The people are great but it’s an engineering culture and the sales team isn’t as well shaped up and I can’t go for a promotion until at least 18 months of tenure. I am an investor in the company and think of them super highly. I’ve already got half a years SDR experience and AWS promotes quicker.

AWS has prestige but is it worth it?

like

I started in my first SDR position in a small SaaS start up few months ago. I am the only SDR and their first ever.
The base salary is ok but I haven’t received any commission structure up to this day.
I book an average of 3-5 demos per week. People always show up, but the thing that worries me is that I do not have a way to track how many meetings I book in our CRM,and to be honest I feel like I didn’t get the best training overall. Should I start looking somewhere else? Thoughts?

Thanks
