The notion that this group of four operating units allows people to work across the network while also working on their own stuff sounds cool until someone needs to submit timesheets. I work on tons of WPP-level projects with zero job numbers and yet while I am unbelievably busy, I worry finance/HR is going to pull me aside one day for not being “billable” and with so many silo’ed resource managed teams + teams with zero resource managers, how is my bandwidth/forecasting being tracked so we don’t just get a million firedrills to deal with while nobody has a clear picture of what my plate looks like
Agree with this so hard. Everything supporting WPP-level projects and pitches is all hands on deck and always unbillable. Meanwhile, you have to manage up to your manager, the group or team head, any executives within your own agency, and any senior executives assigned from various WPP agencies. How many CEO’s, GCL’s, MD’s and EVP’s do we need, really? It might help drive top line growth if we are lucky, but not profitability. Employee reviews also don’t take this into account when assessing promotions, raises or bonuses - so what is the point?
SS WPP is taking on water. Shinny down a rope or jump into a lifeboat.
Design is easy. Most agencies already have design teams. Fold it in. PR makes no sense.
I don’t understand the structure of Health. Ogilvy Health + Grey Health + VML Health. But with brand CCOs?
What is a design asset
