What would you choose? NYC. Job 1- full remote, $160k base, $30-$50k bonus (profit sharing, no control over this), no billing, work 30 hours a week, work is mindless and there is little growth. Job 2- hybrid, $200k base, depending how much you bill bonuses can get to $30k, work is challenging, expanding my skill set, realistically work 45-50 hours, no real partnership track.

Is this a long term play? If yes, I’d go with Option 1 and move out of the city. If no, I’d take Option 2 and use it as a springboard to the next opportunity.

Didn’t mean to put 3. Edited

No really, is there an Option 3? Neither of these spund great for t ou, TBH. Keep looking and pick one in the meantime.

Job 1. All jobs are eventually mindless. Get the bag, move somewhere cheaper. Have hobbies and a life with the 30 hours a week.

I've spent almost a decade in tech strategy and implementation.

Now trying to figure out whether product management or corporate strategy (preferably broader than tech) is a better fit for me after several years in boutique and enterprise consulting:

Can someone in either of these areas describe your day to day responsibilities, relative compensation, WLB, and how your work fits into your company strategy?

My professional life at the moment is far from ideal. I’ve been on quarantine (long story, but a good one) for the last seven years. Royalties from my books don’t pay the bills. My entrepreneurial pursuits remain hampered. For the interim, I’ve been looking for a remote opportunity where I can leverage my skills in marketing, sales, social media, and elsewhere for a decent sum. I have a social media presence which, in recent years, reached millions. There has to be something exciting I can do.

At some Big 4 companies there is a Partner / Principal group that has equity and are part owners of the business and an equivalent Managing Director group that does not have equity and are essentially employees.

How does it work at McKinsey / Bain ? Do those same distinctions exist across partner types, owner vs non owner?

My AD coworker (not currently my partner) just got hired at a new agency and wants to bring me along as his writer. I'd love to join. He told the recruiter at that agency about me and sent my book. I also have another former coworker (creative) who put in a good word for me.

Should I reach out to the recruiter, too? Or is that overkill after two recos? I don't want to be bothersome. But I do want to show interest..

This all happened on Friday, if that matters. Thanks!
