I believe that people can grow and change, so I would take it with a grain of salt. But I would also be curious what they didn't like. Sometimes personality differences aren't really that big of a deal, but if they were causing a lot of problems, I might take it into consideration.
Follow your own opinion/intuition + give them a shot.
If you trust the person who’s giving that feedback (would hope you would for a DR) I’d go with a different candidate. It’s much harder to gauge a candidate from interviews than actual work - so I’d trust the work experience.
What stood out to you regarding the candidate? Perhaps they didn't mesh well with the other employee. I usually take what others have to say with a grain of salt and try to gauge for myself with what I see and experience. How reliable is the person you received the information from? Putting someone in a bad light never makes you look good.
