My direct report demanding a 50% raise and my boss approving it overnight meanwhile I’ve been asking a raise for six months that’s “pending hr approval” 🤔

like

Ooooo yikes

I'm not sure if this counts, but I know of someone who was asked to move to a new location that they were struggling to fill. It was a pretty rural and remote place, and everybody had excuses for why they didn't want to go. My friend ended up going and they pretty much doubled his salary, which was a huge surprise for him. That's probably the craziest thing I've ever heard.

Wow. Thats awesome!

Positive Story: I was transferred within a company to assist a top tier broker. Without truly bashing his former assistant, let me just say that within 3 months, I cleaned up / reorganized and saved the loss of his biggest client. LSS, I was going on vaca and asked the broker to consider doubling my revenue sharing percentage and also increasing my base salary by $10k. I showed him why/what I had done. This resulted in an annual increase of $25-$30k 🙌

Negative Story: I had been sole caregiver for my sickly father for nearly 10 years. When I went back into the job market, I was offered a position, but they lowballed me on the posted salary… even though I passed several pre-interview tests, including a personality test and acquired licensing for the position. Their justification was that I had been out of the market, taking care of my father. 😳

The girl I was speaking for AM scene, she was at 6LPA as share point developer at cognizant, she started giving interviews one after one, she used to show each offer in hand to next company and that’s how she ended up at 20 something, that to the last company she landed understood what’s happening and they withheld the offer letter till last moment. All this in span of 2-3 months.

Wow. Thats crazy and so fast too

Just about all of the stories I read on here. Most feel like a game of one-up.

Hahaha I feel that sometimes

I’m a woman in my mid 20s and constantly face situations where people outside of cyber (still within the company) that I’m dealing with (older men in particular) who always push back against my cyber/technical recommendations even with managers cc’d. I studied, earned certs, and worked hard to get to where I am. Is it bc of my gender and age? In all honesty, I’ve written recommendations that male counterparts voiced in the past that had ZERO pushbacks.

I found a company I was really excited about working at. I applied for the job and went through 5 rounds of interviews. At the end they said I was OVER qualified and they want me for a different position higher up in the company. I was super excited they then had me go through 5 more rounds, 3/5 people were the same. The interviews mostly went "didn't you get the job, I highly recommend you? I'll just put you down as a 10". After those were done they told me I was UNDER qualified. Can't win!

Hi car 🐟

Been looking into 2019 Infiniti QX50, Lincoln MKC, Mazda CX-5, Chevy Equinox, and other similar compact to mid size SUVs but having hard time making the decision.

What are some affordable SUVs that i can buy with ~$25k budget? Hopefully it's post 2019 model and has good fuel economy and reliability (low maintenance cost). I'm less concerned on the mileage but wanting good horsepower (~250hp). Any suggestions? Thanks for your insights.

I was approached on LinkedIn for an early career recruiting role in DFW, TX. I don't have direct experience, but I have the university experience/connections from working in career services. This is the first time I've considered work outside of higher education. I said my salary expectations are minimum $90k and that didn't seem to be an issue. Am I asking too little, too much? How can I know I'm getting the best salary and not just settling at the low end of the range?

My husband just received a job offer on an opportunity he is really excited about. It would be great for his career and they are giving the 15% jump in base he asked for, however they won’t share what the target bonus amount would be. It’s an executive director position, so I would assume it’s a decent target bonus, but without that in writing it could honestly be a gift basket at the end of the year. Is it a red flag for them to not share this? His total comp could be less at this new job…

I have been in my current job for 1 year now as a booking coordinator for a logistics company. When I started I had no idea of what my workload would be, now I noticed that my coworkers took the opportunity to pass most of their job to me. I’m burned out, can barely take break and end my days totally drained and exhausted, also the same people is harassing me with questions like: “why are you working that slow?” Or the “quality of your job is questionable because…..” continue in comments

I’m currently in a lease admin type role, in commercial real estate. I make a base salary of $50.5K with about $9k in bonuses. I’ve continuously received 7-10% raises over the last 3 years. I anticipate getting a promotion this year and would like to get closer to $60k for my base salary. I’m the only person in my role at the company and have been a key person in developing our team as we look to expand. Is this unreasonable? Is there a normal increase given with promotions? Thanks in advance!

I renegotiated my start date and it’s different from the date I signed on the offer letter. Do I need to request a revised offer letter or is the email thread with the recruiter sufficient. By the way, my background check is already in progress.

Im currently going through industry change.
Im a pastry cook with 4yrs experience and the average salary start for this position is now at $22/hr here in vegas, especially in the strip. But cooking/baking is not my passion. So im changing into veterinary medicine and im seeing that the starting rate for a vet tech is around $16-18. Why is that?? Why are people in the vet med industry being paid so low?? Something needs to change. Labor of love aint enough for the people in this job.

I received a job offer from company A and am currently negotiating salary. I have an interview with company B next week and know that they offer a higher base pay. There’s no guarantee that I will be offered a job at company B but my gut is telling me that company B would be a better fit for me. Should I accept the offer from company A, continue interview process with company B and then rescind my offer with company A if company B offers me a job? Will I be burning bridges?

Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.
