Most travel hacks are just Instagram fluff—none of them beat packing less and accepting that you probably don’t need five outfit changes for a three-day trip.
I completely stand by rolling clothes! Bar a crisp button up shirt or a suit jacket (which I put at the top between layers), I roll absolutely everything - and coming home all dirty laundry gets rolled. There’s definitely a space saving and I think some things come out less creased than a hard fold leaves.
Always remember that a pair of pants can be worn multiple times. For extended trips, take advantage of local laundry services; it's not necessarily a cheap option, but beats packing enough for a couple of weeks.
lol - must be a cultural thing or something
I agree that rolling clothes works better for me. But maybe you’re just really great at folding your clothes and I really suck at it.
My favorite tips are to color coordinate outfits so that you can reuse things in different combos. I also always take a backpack or larger bag on the plane and put in some essential toilet toiletries and a change of clothes if I’m checking a bag in case it gets lost. I have heard that checking in as soon as possible. Online will reduce your odds of being bumped, but I can’t speak to Any data that would confirm that, but why not.
Of course! One of the most overrated travel hacks I've tried is to use compression bags. It sounds good, but in reality, the clothes in the compression bags become fluffy when you open your suitcase, and they still take up a lot of space. Moreover, every time you use it, you spend a lot of time compressing and organizing it, which doesn't save much luggage space at all.
The only travel hack that has worked consistently for me is to get a airline credit card for the airline I frequently fly. I will always be an overpacked so the free checked bag benefit with the credit card safes me a bit each year.
Using a rolling suitcase as your carry on. It gets gate checked half the time. Use a duffel bag
The airline will trust that you can stuff it into a cranny.
