We took our son to New Orleans shortly once turned one & both the flights aligned with his naps and slept the whole time (2.5h)🤩 just align it with naps and you’ll be fine
We also did a road trip (8+ hour) to visit family in Savannah when he was maybe 6-7 months old. We left Thursday night, got a hotel, and finished the drive Friday morning. And then we tried driving straight back in 1 day, leaving at his nap time. Definitely recommend breaking it up and leaving at night the day before lol
I flew with a 2 month old by myself before. Short flight from Houston to Nashville. It’s doable. Kept baby in a carrier on my chest. Feeding before or during takeoff. I also used baby headphones to combat the pressure difference. Both are doable. Baby has been on 3 hour roadtrips too. Slept unless hungry or diaper change needed.
My LO was a little over one when we did our first airplane trip - it went great, we booked evening flights and she slept through both plane rides. I also use an Ergo Baby stroller when I travel - it folds up and fits right into the overhead bin.
So helpful! Thank you ladies!!
We took our baby on two trips (both flights) at 5 and 5.5 months old and he did great. I’ve heard 4-6 months is the sweet spot and I fully agree. Our Doona stroller/car seat worked great for both trips
I took a 2.5 month old on a 10 hour road trip to visit some family. It wasn't bad, babies sleep a lot!
With our first she went on a 12+ hour road trip at 4m, it was super easy, then first flight was around 8m to visit family. Our second just turned two and hasn’t flown, but has taken 18hr road trips twice (8m and 20m).
I find it easy to travel with them before age 1. 🤷🏻♀️
Babies require a lot more gear at that age. For that reason I would recommend driving, but we flew with my daughter when she was about four months cross-country and she was fine.
We took our 3 month old on a 5 hour roadtrip and I was pleasantly surprised with how well it went.
