I am not sure if I will fully settle but I do plan to build investments and businesses there that will allow me to spend a lot of time there. I’m not sure if I’ll ever just be in ONE place and also want to think about my future children’s upbringing and accessibility
I was born and raised in the US, but dream of living part-time in my ‘home country’ where my parents grew up. Maybe in the next 10 years 🤞🏿
Nigeria gotta get it tf together first. Otherwise I will continue to go for Christmas lol
As innnnn
I’m doing it now. Building a business back home. Commuting back and forth. We will raise the kids in the US but our future economic source will be from our home country.
Going back to Canada for retirement, that’s for sure!
That is a tough one. For me, my fiancé is Chinese we met while at university. It’s easier to build a life here. But will definitely want to stay connected to both home countries. I ask my self all the time since I grew up Caribbean. I value that education system and community as it thought me a lot of important life lessons. I see people take many things for granted here and many that look like me carry a chip on the shoulder both of which I wish not on my future kids. So the question I ask my self is , should I move back temporarily for benefit of my future kids living in another country or would mine and my future partner influence in their lives be enough ?
I’m actually in a similar position as yours.
I think it might be easier to start with summer vacations in those countries. If you also have relatives there who can care for them, you should definitely drop them off during the holidays.
Unless you own your business, I’m not sure how convenient it would be to move them there. And if you do, the quality of education in those countries are different now than before.
Not born here, but grew up here since 8yo...now married with a kid here, never really thought of going back as this has just become home. My parents, aunt's, uncle's, sisters, and a few cousins are in the States as well so it would be hard for me to leave and have the same quality of life
Recently came to the realization this year so now I’ve started saving to build a house there starting next year. Plan is to do my masters and then move back in 5-10 years. I’m 25 now so I feel I’ve got some time. By 40 would be my preferred latest to move back.
And what will you do once you get there? Building a house will certainly not be enough.
