When recruiting for Private Equity positions at consultant-heavy firms like Berkshire Partners, HGGC, Golden Gate Capital, etc. are consultants expected to know technicals like a banker would?

Haha nope!

It highly depends on the fund. You should know how to at least do a paper LBO. Better if you can do a simple full model cleanly (sources and uses, debt tranches, etc.)

It tends to be less technically focused than bankers, the fund that I ended up signing with explicitly said “we don’t judge consultants as hard in the LBO model”, but I’m sure the same holds true for bankers during the case study

In other words, how technical/accounting heavy are interviews at these firms? Full modeling test, just a paper LBO?

Reorgs are just a part of the corporate world. If you haven’t been a part of one in your career yet, then you most likely haven’t been in the corporate workforce for very long. If you have been a part of a reorg, however, how do you personally approach it? There are many factors at play, but in general do you try to establish relationships with the individuals you know will be key contributors and/or decision makers going forward? Or do you lay low and let what ever happens be/hope for the best?

So i have been fortunate that i have managed to go through my career without the need for a degree. I was lucky enough to have been hired by one of the worlds top consulting firms, worked with a whole lot of big clients and travelled a lot. It's gotten to the point where I am not even asked about the lack of a degree on my resume. Personally though, it bothers me. I have a whole bunch of certifications in my industry…but just no formal degree. (cont'd)
