Admin denied the request because it isn’t immediate family, even though another teacher in our grade is taking four weeks off in April to go on a cruise. Is there anything else she can do?

What’s your state doing to advance equity in edu? In CA we talk a lot about equity at the student/class levels, but aren’t addressing issues around financial equity and cultural equity in schools.

What are your thoughts on the term, person of color? It tends to be controversial at times. Do you prefer something more specific? I personally prefer "Black" for myself.

I’m curious about how your districts handle wearing BLM apparel. I recently got in trouble for wearing a BLM shirt, but my school had no policy in place to justify their decision to have me remove the message.

Has anyone participated in a PD or series of PDs on issues dealing with race and equity that led to meaningful changes? Would love to learn more about them.
