How do you approach the initial conversation with your doctor? I have taken a variety of both anti anxiety and anti depressants. Nothing works. I’ve been reading online and in this bowl, and a lot of ADHD symptoms really resonate with me. They have for a long time, frankly, but I couldn’t get my former provider to take me seriously when I was in college/law school. I’m hoping the context of being out of school helps, but I just want to make sure I maximize my odds of getting help (cont)

What’s the best way to turn down a 2nd interview? During the 1st interview, I learned that the compensation for the role is not within the range that I am looking for and requires 400 more billable hours a year than what I bill now. I’d basically be laterally for my current salary just to bill 400 more hours. I also wasn’t aware that the local office was strictly ID. Firm website advertises lots of practice areas. Any advice? TIA!

Is there special experience or knowledge you'd need to be effective at a GCD level in Pharma? Or is it like any other account, just different products? I'm considering making the switch from general market advertising.

Does anyone have experience breaking up w a therapist? I've been seeing my therapist for 5+ years for eating disorder treatment and we've been through so much together, but I don't think she's able to help me anymore. While I've stopped my ED behaviors, they've evolved into OCD, and I'm finding that her methods might be making it worse. I think I want to try an OCD expert instead. But I don't know how to end the relationship. Do I just stop going? Do I explain myself? I don't know what to do 🥺

Hi all! Any one have an opinion for average rent for a studio in Oakland / Berkeley/ Sf for a ~30 min commute to Embarcadero area in SF? I’m evaluating a job offer and debating whether it’s worth moving out to there from NYC.

What’s your state doing to advance equity in edu? In CA we talk a lot about equity at the student/class levels, but aren’t addressing issues around financial equity and cultural equity in schools.

Has anyone participated in a PD or series of PDs on issues dealing with race and equity that led to meaningful changes? Would love to learn more about them.

What are your thoughts on the term, person of color? It tends to be controversial at times. Do you prefer something more specific? I personally prefer "Black" for myself.

Has anyone else been following the #31DaysIBPOC on twitter? I would highly recommend reading and following everyone who has contributed!

I’m curious about how your districts handle wearing BLM apparel. I recently got in trouble for wearing a BLM shirt, but my school had no policy in place to justify their decision to have me remove the message.

What is the average teaching salary in your state? I’m a 1st year teacher at a public charter making $52k/year. I’m interested in teaching in Los Angeles upon leaving Texas.

Happy to join. Although our degrees and credentials come on white paper, there is a culture we bring to the schools as people of color...WE PAY THE PRICE!!!

So how are we going to discuss the concepts of white nationalism and white supremacy in our classes this year?

Does anyone have experience with building a mentorship program or affinity groups for Educator of Color? Willing to offer any advice?

A coworker I share the hall with asked for a sub next week so she could go to her cousins funeral, since they were very close. Admin denied the request because it isn’t immediate family, even though another teacher in our grade is taking four weeks off in April to go on a cruise. Is there anything else she can do?
