Yes. We have an assembly and students do performances.
No, considering the diversity of staff and students, they should.
It’s the same with my school.
My school dose, we have female business women come in and do a brown bag talk about how they got into the profession, we had a few beauty shop owners come in and talk about hair, and we have a rap session for young men to talk about how to navigate the courts, business world and professional dress.
We do! In fact it is the entire 5th grade, my grade and it is mostly black teachers on that grade level. We had a museum 2-3 times. Then between the 3-5 grade we did a GRAND ASSEMBLY which was AWESOME!!!
They do not. Perhaps they would if someone stepped up about it.
I’m new to my school as of the beginning of the school year so I sent an email out to all the black teachers and staff on campus and asked what they did in years past. Usually it’s a sprinkle of performances here or there. This year we decided to do a BHM question during homeroom everyday, the first student to come to the specified teachers’ class at lunch will get a prize, we’re going to have a spirit week; which kids will have a head wrap day, pan african flag colors day, black out day, etc. I can send you our calendar if you’d like.
Can you send it to me please? Do you need my email?
One school I work at has a black history club that I help with. We put on a show every year, with a theme, this year is black inventors, and we give the students one or two parts, they research some information about each person and present it during our black history show. Each scene has a dance or step as well. It's fun. The kids love it as well.
My school has a moment in Black History. They feel like they are addressing it.
