Elevator as amenity made me lol. I was just in LIC yesterday looking at apts. Granted, I only saw two buildings - Gotham Point and “the Halo” (which is really Hunters Point). Gotham Point seems like a ripoff to me. I saw some 1 BRs and the apartments feel really boxy. They have low ceilings (a bit over 8 ft maybe), and the interiors are not very nice (floors are an ugly yellow). The support pillars in the corner apartments are also gigantic. The Halo had much nicer apts I thought, but the views kinda suck.
Nothing like Manhattan in terms of conveniences…the ferry is there, yes, but people underestimate how annoying it is to plan ahead so you don’t miss it, then walk to the dock and wait in line for 10-15 mins for it to arrive…not to mention it’s cold AF in the winter. Some buildings have shuttles to the subway, but…meh. All the new buildings in LIC + the waterfront are pretty, but it kinda feels like a fake neighborhood. I grew up not too far away in Astoria, and LIC was always super industrial…to me it still feels kinda cold.

Snr Art Dir1 - how is that different from Manhattan?
I moved from Midtown to LIC at the start of the pandemic (court Sq/queensboro plaza) area and quite like it. Very accessible, with all the train options nearby. Lots of shops and stores popping up (sweetgreen, jacx & co food hall & bar, tacombi, Trader Joe’s, etc), which helps. Less of a park/sanctuary feeling, though waterfront is ~20 min walk, as is Astoria.
Echo A1, building views are blah though walkability score is high.
Yes a luxury 1bd is around 3.5-5k. Pandemic pricing was around 2k-3.5k. I managed to get a luxury building last year with pandemic pricing, in-unit laundry, skyline views, gym, doorman, everything for 2.1k net. Landlord wants 3.5k this year. I had a friend land a studio also in a luxury building during pandemic for 1.5k with all amenities and in unit laundry.
I love it here. More space, beautiful views and amenities. Perfect if your work from home. I enjoy cooking at home so being further from the city (granted its not even that far) dissuades me from eating out all the time as i’m lazier to go out and spend money. Very pet friendly, quiet and beautiful.
Sure your not in the middle of hustle and bustle of nyc, but sometimes calm is better. It’s not even that far from the city.
Thanks. I’m touring Jackson Park this weekend.

LIC has been developing a lot but some streets and alleys are still pretty industrial. There are some upscale restaurants there such as M Wells Steakhouse but nightlife is pretty spotty.
The whole taking train to manhattan gets very exhausting and annoying pretty quick. 7 train is packed like sardines and N trains are pretty unreliable especially on weekend if you need to go to manhattan as theres not much happening in LIC compared to greenpoint or astoria or williamsburg.
It has some of the more luxury apartments with nice view of midtown and if you fly a lot then its closer to LGA and JFK.
UPDATE: I viewed Jackson Park and liked it more than I thought. Felt like a country club and easy commute in from the UES. Walked along Jackson Ave and was impressed by all of the cool stores and restaurants.
1JP is loud and overlooking the train yard. I’m a light sleeper so that would be a no-go for me. Tour guide told me 2 or 3 is better for me.
