Who here thinks Apple's rumored AR headset will be a big win for the company?

Well let's see...

$299 Oculus associated with a company very clearly and intentionally pouring billions into VR. With, already, some incredible games.

Or, the HoloLens, supported by a $500 billion with a B grant from the U.S. DoD, to fund innovation by a company that owns the most popular Multiplayer Multiverse games ever (CoD, Minecraft, and World of Warcraft).

Or Apple. Which licenses content, has no production, and will sell a beautiful looking device for $2000

Despite what you might think from my answer, Apple will do quite well because of course people will want "Apple" and many are happy spending that premium while having to get a new device every few years.

Apple is in the game as they were with PC, but this is already a Facebook (meta) and Microsoft duopoly.

1000% this. Microsoft has been carefully curating this for years now and about to be on their 3rd iteration before even releasing it to the general public. They're still only developer kits. Apple is way behind the 8 ball. That's what happens when an accounts and logistics guy is in charge. Look at intel for the last 5 to 10 years. Now an engineer is in charge and boom we get real innovation for the first time in forever

It’s Apple, so I wouldn’t bet against them. However, I’m somewhat surprised they haven’t tried to make the iPhone the “hub” of the metaverse. It’s already in millions of hands and they could create additional revenue streams by selling accessory devices. But they would own the main content engine.

Ultimately I imagine that's what they'll do. This is testing the market. With adoption, they'll make it beneficially associated with the. iPhone and then lock it all in to iOS. That's their m.o.

It has too, there is so much riding on it!
