Take it if you like the company and believe in it.
There’s way more money in SaaS because they actually make money, almost every consumer tech company is not.
Won’t be hard to switch, also a lot of B2C consumer companies have some B2B and SaaS like elements to them as well.
Excellent point! Came from SaaS B2B and quite frankly healthy profits each year, solid client base, good funding relationships. They could have had a B2C element and were adamantly against it
SaaS is definitely better!
Hey thanks! Curious to learn more - can I message you?
Hmm… you mean to say b2c prod mgmt is harder to get into than b2b prod mgmt? Interesting. I think b2b is more in demand because of higher chance of success
BCG1, my assumption would be only kids would want to work in rent the runway tbh 😅
It's a good strategy. But at the end of the day, I'd decide based on the company itself - do they have a good culture, opportunities for growth. That is going to be more important imo.
Would love to hear more about how you secured this offer as I’m attempting to make the switch into SaaS PM as well!
Hey! Feel free to DM if you wanna hear more, but I reached out to PM bloggers and over time, some of them were willing to introduce me to the founders they knew who were hiring
How many other interviews/offers do you have lined up?
2 more interviews left but they’re still in early phases
As a B2b lifer I would say that if if b2c is more popular, I think the populace is missing out on the economies of scale.
I have something close to an offer from a b2c company but I think I’ll end up taking the saas one too for the economics of it. Thanks everyone!!
The company I work for split its b2b and b2c businesses. I worked for b2c and, fortunately, had the option to go to b2b side and decided to go for it. Seems like a more stable and impactful model if we can get it to work.
You might be asking the wrong question altogether. If you are looking to accelerate your career, the primary focus should be about the company. That brand name and reputation will matter a hell of a lot more than whatever title they provide you with. I would. SaaS Is a good sign the company is growing. Or at least heading in the right direction like Prisma Cloud.
