C1, very nicely and succinctly put!
OP, it’s all about fairness in coverage. Cavanaugh and Trump’s allegations were evaluated ad nauseam and everyone said “You have to believe her”! Biden’s allegations get a “Well, he’s Joe Biden!” And “What about due process?”
Chief
Kavanaugh's allegations didn't pick up coverage until we found out there's be a Senate Hearing. Reade hasn't even indicated she'd want that.
Meanwhile, I'd imagine there may be something else suffocating news air time right now, and also preventing journalists from leaving their homes to do investigative work.
Not sure if this is a genuine question, but for me it’s because we as a society have been listening to things like “believe all women” since the MeToo movement began.
Then we saw that same mentality be used in the political sphere in a major way with Kavanaugh. Despite due process, despite her politically convenient timing, and despite her inability to produce anything close to pursuance evidence but her own word, every media outlet and their subsidiaries were telling the country how we needed to believe her, Kavanaugh was a rapist bc she said so, and if we didn’t concur we’d be just as awful.
And now we see the equivalent situation hit the Democratic nominee and suddenly CNN and the Times want to go quiet. The same outlets and party that rode the wave of a movement with good intentions (though flawed execution) have suddenly hopped off that ride now that it’s become politically inconvenient, despite the fact that Reade has substantially more to offer the court of public opinion and any real court in terms of evidence.
Ok Mr SVP1, now that you’ve revealed complete lack of ability to give a straight ans to a direct question, this convo is over!
Same reason they were hysterical that Hilary set up a private email server for official business but didn’t bat an eye when Jarad and Ivanka did
It's about the media coverage. It's about, "rules for thee, but not for me."
Chief
I really can't tell if that's sarcasm or not.
Pro
Because it’s convenient
Chief
Because they will do anything to get their manchurian candidate elected
Have you even seen this movie?
Honestly, the more women a candidate has assaulted the more likely a conservative will vote for him.
If anything, it's a good thing for Biden's campaign.
The grab them by the pussy comments included the phrase "they let you do it", indicating consent or the appearance of it.
I am glad the accusations against BK were taken seriously and allowed the full, very public Senate examination. I hope the accusations against Biden, which have thus far turned up more, albeit equally circumstancial, evidence, are taken just as seriously.
"Believe women" means "believe women." Not just "believe women when they accuse someone I don't like" or "believe women when it is a conservative." It means to allow women due process to speak their truth; it also means vetting the claims. "Trust but verify" may have been a better slogan.
I saw tweets (and I know Twitter is not real life, but this an example) about how, even if Biden raped them/their children, they would still vote for him because he is better than Trump. This is concerning.
This comment lacks a basic understanding of consent and is concerning AF.
And as a lib, it's fucked up that our country is so obsessed with white male leadership that we now have not just one chronic sexual abuser running for the highest office in the land, but we added another sexual harasser who has a credible sexual assault claim to the ballot.

I’d like to think that there are *some* who did care but feel the trial game to nothing, so rightly feel it’s hypocritical. Not sure how many...but some at least.
It's not that "sexual assualt is a good thing", which is a horrible accusation to blanket an entire political party with. It's hypocrisy. I would love for women, on both sides, who are accusing those of both political persuasians, to be taken equally as seriously. BK's name was dragged through the mud in the court of public opinion. I would like for Tara Reade's accusations to receive the same level of repugnance. Equality, and belief, for all women.
