Hi feel free to message me if you want to chat and / or want a referral. I am a life sciences specialist (PhD) at LEK. Our life sciences sector team is always in need of talent especially those with prior LS consulting and project management experience. Generally, consultants like yourself would be designated “life sciences consultants” and work only in LS. While most LSCs are promote-through from analyst/ life sciences specialist, or from MBA programs, I’ve worked with a few directly hired as LSCs who’ve worked at med device, pharma companies etc in roles that seem similar to yours. I think a Masters is definitely sufficient to ensure you have a strong grasp of biology and your work experience suggests you would be knowledgeable about industry-wide trends.
That said, there is definitely a learning curve as new MBA LSCs learn how LEK works, what different tools / resources are used for analysis, how to manage a team / client, all at once. Generally, you are double-staffed with another consultant at first to gain such experience.
While WLB here is a challenge, the plus side is projects are super interesting, diverse, and all strategy based. I also think a lot of our projects highlight novel / leading-edge innovation. Some recent examples include market landscaping /forecasting at small biotech (think just IPO’d), new strategic initiatives at large pharma etc. Given your CRO background, I also wanted to highlight that LEK also has a thriving “life sciences enablers” practice which advises CROs, diagnostics companies, R&D tools companies which you seem like a great fit for if you did want to leverage that.
I’m not sure how workstreams are run at Accenture but am curious so feel free to message me if you want to compare notes. Happy to answer any specific questions about core task/ skills needed in the LSC role and discuss our WLB, culture etc.
Of course! Feel free to message me!
You could probably move now, but 1 more year tops and you could move - former LEK EM.
That’s good to know, thanks!
Also happy to chat about the Senior Associate Consultant (SAC), and Associate Consultant (AC) role, although we hire into these roles directly less frequently, they could also be options.
