Anyone here tryna go into impact investing?
Hi, I belong to the corporate bowl but I have snuck in to ask if anyone would be interested in assisting the Ukranian Crisis Legal Aid organisation that has been set up by a Hungarian law firm to pair up refugees and lawyers. The website is https://ukrainelegalaid.org and it was set up by KNP LAW Nagy Koppany Lencs & Partners (who I am not affiliated with). This is all pro bono. Feel free to PM me, especially if you are English qualified!

Stop throwing rocks from your ivory tower. It's easy for you to say that when we all know you're making more than most people on here
Everyone only asks that question on here 10x a day for an ego boost. For everyone saying "i want to make sure I'm paid fairly" please go to your supervisor and say "I asked a bunch of ppl on this anonymous consulting app and they said they make a lot more money than me I don't think I'm paid fairly" and let me know how that goes for you
Because we want to make sure we're being paid fairly. I don't think that's unreasonable
I also think constant comparison is only going to lead people to be unhappy. Someone is always going to make more, or make the same and not have to work as hard. The race is long, and ultimately only against yourself.
Blah blah blah high and mighty early retirement blah blah. Income is entirely relative
^well, that escalated quickly.
@EY1: try less dude
Interesting that you're a consultant but not interested in benchmarking whatsoever...
Maybe? Maybe not. I'm sure there are plenty of people making more money out there (banking, VC). But who cares? Thinking about how someone makes 10%+ more than me or whatever gets me nowhere. If you're happy at your job, and it facilitates a good life for you at home, I don't see the benefit of comparing to your peers.
How do you know what you're worth if you don't compare it to your peers? In isolation, you may think you make a lot. Comparing your salary give you a market perspective and what you're really worth.
Jesus OP you sound like the Gandhi of consulting. People are all competitive in this (and other relatively higher paying) industry and are going to instinctively compare salaries because of the amount of effort put in to get a good rating, among many other factors. It's Type A shit. I doubt 5% of people on here are even considering retirement at age 45 because in most situations that's not feasible. It's great you might be able to but when you diss the majority of the users here with your higher than thou post it probably isn't going to go well, especially when you work for MBB.
I didn't mean to offend anyone. I was asking a question in hopes that other people might realize comparing with others only brings us down. Thought I could save some people from that misery.
How much do you make? #joking
I know the lifestyle I want to live and what I can afford with what I make.
Is this bain.org?
@Accenture1....you're post it utterly ridiculous. Go sell your house for a dollar and tell me you don't care about market value. Shocking that people who are consultants have this idealistic view on things. It's one thing to say "I don't worry about what I'm being paid" all power to you OP. I'm happy that youre being paid enough that you don't mind if you're being taken advantage of....At the end of the day you're only doing yourself a disservice. it's another to say "you're dumb for trying to figure out if you're paid fairly" or "lol go try and talk to your partner blah blah blah" when it's literally information gathering. It's called due diligence. In a field where compensation structure is so opaque you have to get information wherever you can, while still being cynical (duh). Oh Accenture and OP, By the way, I have a Rolexes to sell both of you. Swear theyre real...just cough up the cash since it doesn't matter to you. Also Accenture, you can go fuck yourself yourselves trying to tell me not to worry about money from your gilded, ivory tower. Not everybody has the privilege of not worrying about what they're being paid. You don't know anybody's situation so don't presume to and belittle others for having (god forbid) worldly worries. But hey, if you don't want the extra money, I'll talk to your boss, make sure you get a raise and I'll keep the difference. Hell, you probably don't need half of what you're making now! I'll take that too
Do you work as hard as peers in your own firm? Or harder? (I'm guessing you don't think you're the lazy one in the bunch.) How do you capture all those details when benchmarking?
If people put the energy they put into benchmarking into something productive they'd be better off. That's all I'm saying.
And I'm not sure how I got a job at Bain? I think they hire smart, collegial individuals so I'd like to think I fit into that bucket. But to be honest, I think it was from some combination of working hard and luck.
@BCOP - #church. A good deal is a state of mind - just like your salary is a state of mind. If all you haters care about is falling "within the mean" of an income then enjoy being prisoners to a number for the remainder of your professional lives. It's called financial independence - that freedom has no number.
At least you're with beer!
Whatever the case - we can't take it with us. Do good, add value and give free hugs.
