The nice thing about engineering is that nobody cares where you came from, they care about your attitude and your skills. Do you have a good attitude? Can you learn the skills and contribute to the team? Are you hard-working and capable? Those are the things that matter, not your background.

I think you can totally succeed in this new position! You have a lot of experience, even if it's in a different field or capacity. You might have to start at the bottom and work your way up (most of us do) but you've already shown you're a strong problem-solver and hard worker so I think you'll be great in engineering!

I’d highlight transferable skills like attention to detail, troubleshooting, and working under pressure, and present them as a foundation for engineering. Then, show a clear plan for your courses or certifications. That proves you’re serious about growth, not just curious, and employers respect that.
