With all the lateral movement these days, are firms generally good at integrating laterals?

As a multi-time lateral, the answer is no. They try for like a week or two but it’s ultimately your job to integrate.

Would agree with A2, as also someone who’s moved a couple times it really becomes on you to meet people / get facetime with the right people etc. but even with that, sometimes can still be a little hard to get in the right circle

Unfortunately, most firms are not good at this. It's significantly better if you know one or more people at the new firm. Not to say it lessens the importance of being proactive in making introductions, but having someone who will take you under their wing and make sure you get in front of the right people really helps.

Not at all

Some firms are better than others.

My firm did not do much but my group has been great. So it will (say it with me) *depend*

Due to a mix of circumstance, hikes / job moves, i’ve 2x my salary over the last year.
However, regardless of much i earn, it feels as if i will never feel rich or save enough in a place like London. Crazy constantly increasing taxes, sky rocketing rents and early saturation in salaries. Is UK the right place to be or is it the same everywhere.

I’m have a new theory about why juniors always feel like idiots and wanted to see if anyone else thinks this makes sense. I’m a third year, and am the most junior person all of my teams (generally me, a senior or two, and a partner or two), and I always feel like I’m messing something up. Is this just because I never get to work with other juniors and don’t see the mistakes they make, and that it’s relatively normal? And FWIW I went to HYS and I’ve had a clerkship so it’s not like I’m not smart

Was interviewing with a firm and soon after receiving an offer, learned of bad culture/toxic partners in the practice group from a couple of associates who recently lateraled from the firm. I turned the offer down. A partner that I clicked with while interviewing reached out asking me why I turned down the offer. Should I be honest and relay what I heard?

Associate at an AmLaw 100 firm doing patent work. I applied to a part time masters program to try to pivot to a different technical field (still doing patent work, but in something that interests me more than what I’m doing now). Do I try to stick it out at the firm while getting the masters, ask for a reduced hours schedule, or get a part time, non-legal job so I can focus more on the program (one year).
