I would ask for the first time and when you ask, ask how you should handle future emails of that nature

like

Depends on who it is on the other side. Opposing counsel and Client is a no

like

If it is something suuuper simple that you know the answer to (ie, did you send x document to the other party today and you know the answer is yes) OR if you can just answer “will do” (ie client is asking if you can find him a document data room or something like that) - you can reply. Anything else I would just wait. If it seems super urgent you can call the senior’s mobile.

like

Forward the email to the senior with a proposed response and say you weren't sure if you should be responding to things like that but you drafted one anyway

What do you mean the senior has logged off? Call them.

If it’s not urgent, then don’t risk a fuck up by emailing.

529 Plan VERSUS Prepaid

We live in Florida and currently have a Freshman in High School and a 16 month old. We hear from our friends and family with college bound children "I wish we would have done Florida PrePaid." After obviously ignoring this for years, we are finally trying to do it before "it's too late" for both children.

Does anyone have recommendations on which plan to go with for each child? I once did the pros and cons on a whiteboard and it seemed like 529 was better.

Anyone here made the move from a boutique ECVC firm to in house at a VC? My Y1/Y2 background was V20 ECVC hard hitting firm in the Bay, and now I’m at a large boutique with a strong rep in this field in So Cal. I don’t want to make partner, so I’m exploring what options there may be to go in house with an ECVC background. Any insight on responsibilities, W/L balance, leadership, etc in these in house roles?

FWIW, I’m a JD/MBA with a background in finance.

Mid 2020, I turned down an opportunity to jump ship from my small law firm to a big law firm. At the time I had 4 years of practice under my belt with managerial experience. I thought the offer was reasonable, come in at a 2nd year level, but with the uncertainty of the times I played it safe. Now I regret it. What avenues do I have, if any, to jump into big law from a small firm?
