Purely financial basis. I don't think it will make sense at all.
To break down 20k per year after taxes will be give or take 1200 per month. Thats not a lot of money considering you will use 1 hour approx to commute plus laundry, clothes, eating out, gas, car wear and tear. I get it that being home is not fun. Specially if you have a nice team mates and colleague but on financial basis, the difference in money is not much.
it depends on the west and tear in putting on my vehicle cost of working outside your home and work clothes
If you are happier working from home, I would stick with that! I'm struggling with it myself and am considering a pay cut for an in-office opportunity. All depends on your preferred lifestyle, but I agree with the other commenter that $20k goes quick when it comes to the expenses associated with working onsite.
Big fat no
I feel you on this even though I don’t have another job offer on the table lol. I’ve been fully WFH with a super chill and manageable job but have been applying to places with higher pay but most seem to be not WFH. I agree with Physical Therapist that the breakdown of the additional pay won’t be that much in the long run considering all the other expenses that go with commute/clothes/etc. Maybe keep looking around and see if you can get at least $30k or $40k more if you’re focused on increasing pay and maybe even more of a career challenge? I’m still figuring this out myself. I’m 33, looking to have a baby in the future, and kind of leaning towards just chilling with this WFH job lol. Who knows. Keep us posted and best of luck!!
I wouldn’t lol 😂
My MH is more important to me. You’d have to weigh the pros and cons.
For me, it would depend on how long the commute is and also what the office environment is like. I used to work in a tiny cubicle in an open layout and it was hell on earth. No amount of money would make me go back to that environment. However, I now report to an office everyday but have my own office and absolutely love it. Also, regarding the commute, I wouldn’t be willing to drive longer than 30 minutes each way. Any longer than that and the commute will take its toll.
I might be in the minority here... I don't think we can provide the same level of patient care when so many people are primarily remote. It's just not possible to build the same relationships with our clients unless we are physically in the same room with them. So I would definitely take the hybrid position, the raise is just an extra incentive.
Pro
I think an additional $20k is a significant amount that can help you afford other things in life. You'll have to do the math on the cost of travel and time spent. If you meal prep (which I always do), the cost of eating out isn't another expense for going into work. Plus it's hybrid so you can still take care of house things on days you can stay home.
Yes!
