We definitely encourage our writers to use help from AI. One reason is, that we know everyone is using a certain amount of help anyway, and want to normalize it. Second thing is that it really helps them save up on the thinking time they need for a lot of BAU stuff that is easy to lose motivation for.

But do you decline that the skills of individuals is declining?
Making employees beg for more resources is certainly a choice. I wouldn't say I'm expected to use it, but I try to whenever I'm able to save time and work more efficiently. It's been very helpful for cleaning up data, generating slide content, and note taking.

It's not a bad idea to operate on a lean mindset
I think what we're really seeing here is someone with a rapacious founder's mentality using AI as an overarching excuse to squeeze his workers. Essentially threatening them that they have to try to use AI before adding actual employees may seem like a gee whiz ain't this a great milestone for AI type of moment. But let's not be naive, it's just another tech bro trying to push his workers to burn themselves out.

I think it’s a realistic ask. Everyone at my firm is encouraged to use AI now for efficiency reasons. Little need to add staff when we have such powerful free assistants that are getting better by the month.
