You all loved my last chart so much, I decided you deserved another.

Look at this ridiculousness. What an absolute horror show.

Can you provide sources? Not hating, just very much aware of confirmation bias.

Please overlay both lines on one chart and add a legend. Then we will need to come up with a tag line for the slide. Let’s connect in 20 mins k thx. TLDR: pls fix

Now do nursing home deaths!

likefunny

To the prison comment above ^^ look up Marion county in Ohio. Huge number of cases (relative to metropolis area etc) in the county there were 2,717 cases and 37 deaths. They tested population of prison due to older age of inmates which is majority of these cases. Curious if results are similar else where.

Correlation ≠ causation

Hate to break it to your ego, my post want about you.

Aren’t CA cases skyrocketing? Am I missing something?

like

Yes, they are... but when rolled up with other states by party, the large drops in NY hide the effect. Conversely early in the blue curve, CA obscures how bad NY metro got.

like

There goes another conservative talking point

like

Now do cumulative cases.

like

The data-free hyperbole and confirmation seeking a incredible. Y’all have fun with that.

Must have studied art.

likefunny

Just based on the height of spike, I’m guessing the blue line is strongly driven by NY numbers. How do you average across states, by weighting population size or just simple average of averages?

like

That works if we’re assuming they normalized to /M before aggregating states. Not super clear how the numbers were derived just from the graph tho.

If I had to report on this for FoxNews/Breitbart, it looks like Democrat governors caused the initial COVID infection to get out of control.

likefunny

Surprised that no conservatives have brought up the "what about the crime in Democrat ran states" talking point yet.

likefunny

Ok, now show deaths please

like

Deaths lag cases they’ll be here soon :(

You get what you pay for

How about the fact that the USA, Russia, UK, Brazil and India have the fastest rise in covid cases right now and are all led by ultra conservative presidents and prime ministers.

Meanwhile Australia, New Zealand, South Korea and Taiwan have had the smallest per capita amounts of covid cases the past four months and are all run by liberal presidents/prime ministers.

Strictly controlled these days

I love the charts 👏🏻

I’d be curious to see this by population density instead of Governor political affiliation. Of the top 15 most densely populated states, 11 have Democratic Governors. Is the trend because of population density or because of politics. As someone said, correlation does not equal causation.

like

For perspective:
Deaths per 100k population
NY: 161
FL: 15

like

Also some of the most stringent policies have come from Massachusetts which has a Republican Governor [yes, a liberal one but he is a Republican]

like

And this is proof this has been politicized on both sides...

One of the primary aims of the criminal justice reform movement is to help ex-convicts re-enter the workforce by sealing criminal records, and making it more difficult for employers to judge applicants based on criminal history. The idea is that people are redeemable and capable of reform. Yet the same movement thoroughly enjoys getting people fired and publicly shaming them for making arguments they find “offensive”. A rapist is capable of reform, but not someone who makes a dumb tweet. Got it.
