Yes. A million times yes. More jokes, more pranks, more drinking, more fun.
I also think that working class kids can’t afford to work in advertising anymore so instead we get upper and upper middle class entry level talent that hasn’t experienced hardship or real challenges. Pain is the ground humor grows from.
I can’t tell you how many reviews I have been in about how no one understands my sense of humor. Because it does matter, I am a woman and my jokes are just dry, not offensive or in any way mean. I don’t miss the office because while wfh I can just text my partner my jokes under the radar and sit quietly and smile and nod. I’m finally the “cheerleader” I am expected to be because I can hang up the call and scream into the void.
Same same sames
Women aren’t funny ya know. I had a coworker scrunch up their face at me and say “you’re such a BITCH” once, after I said something that was actually very simple and cute, a play on someone’s last name. Not offensive at all. I explained it to her and she was schooled. It sucks how many times I’ve been dismissed or my jokes get picked up by that loud dude on the room, and everyone laughs. But that’s a different post eh
It used to be filled with weirdos and eccentrics. Now it’s all rich sorority girls and Chads.
I used to be a lot more fun when I was younger and the world wasn’t collapsing.
Was also more fun when I had more than two days to turn around jobs we used to have weeks to do.
It’s not just a creative thing. I joke constantly and the younger people on the team and I get crickets. As if they are afraid to engage in any banter not related to work. It’s bizarre
Everyone is too scared of saying something wrong or offending something. We work in ADVERTISING and we all suddenly are on the moral high ground. It’s terribly boring.
Kids these dates! But they’re not accountants; they’re ultra-litigious lawyers who record EVERYTHING.
Yes. We relied on each other for entertainment. Going to work wasn’t all about sitting glued to a screen all day, it was much more human and relational and FUN. Now we have the internet and social media and memes and blah blah blah.
I wonder if it’s just us. Feels like these are just humorless times
I don’t need humor. I just wanna know where the stone cold weirdos went so I can join them.
