A random collection of thoughts:
1. Be curious - if you find a problem, figure why it occurred and how you can fix it (and stop it from happening again).
2. Be someone people want to work with. That’s not the same as being likable (although that does help) - it’s being someone who makes those around them better/more comfortable.
3. Be brave enough to make decisions and take the blame when they go wrong.
4. Be brave enough to share the credit when things go right.
5. If someone who works for you screws up, take a long hard look at what you could have done to have helped them avoid the mistake before you point fingers elsewhere. And even when you do, do it with compassion and from a position of making sure that person not only doesn’t make the same mistake, but avoids other mistakes.
6. If you make a mistake, you need to do 3 things: apologize, mean it, make up for it. Don’t EVER deflect the blame.
7. Trust first - people don’t have to earn my trust, but they aren’t getting it back if they lose it.
8. Learn to manage up - don’t expect your leaders to know what you’re thinking or know how stressed you are. Talk to them.
9. Make friends with your HRBP - they’ll have your back if you’re in trouble and represent you when there are opportunities to advance.

Wow. I wish I would've known about hopping every 3-4 yrs. And those raises were do to changing departments, not to annual raises because they are only 2.4-3.49% annually. Since I've been with the company for 11 years now.
