Most likely. If there’s a way to screw over employees, Wren will do. Our new “benefits” proved that.
Omnicom, at least prior to the acquisition of IPG, was okay with talent interviewing within network, they simply prohibited other agencies from reaching out to talent within network.
They will know your current salary though, which of course can make it difficult to negotiate.
It’s not about HR sharing anything. In fact, and again this is based on Omnicom policy prior to the acquisition of IPG, HR at a person’s current Omnicom agency won’t know they’re interviewing until they get an offer letter. But that person as an Omnicom employee has their info in the system.
This isn’t even unique to Omnicom, it’s much like how severance payments from Agency X stops if you get paid by Agency Y under the same holding company because they don’t pay severance to current employees. The key is that you’re treated as a current employee in these kinda things even if the agencies are vastly different. Like Dentsu1 said above, WPP is known to cap your salary increase when negotiating with another WPP shop. I don’t know if Omnicom does this but I wouldn’t be surprised.
At WPP there was a 15% increase cap between agencies although it wasn’t too hardly enforced. This was 10 years ago mind you so im sure it’s gotten worse.
Re knowing your salary, even if they don’t have direct access to it, it wouldn’t be too difficult for them to find out, especially if you make it to the offer stage.
