Hello RSM coworkers! I am thrilled to be moving to RSM into a Scheduler roll. I just found out yesterday and want to be as prepared as possible in the next steps.
So here are my questions.
How long does the background study take? I'm guessing admin staff have a study that is faster and less complicated than someone in Tax ect.
When training at home what did you need that wasn't supplied by RSM? My home office is well stocked but I want to be as prepared as possible.
Thanks in advance!

What careers pay the best in the Uk?
Hi Londoners ,
Moving in from outside UK.
Looking out for some areas in west / NW London where one can live with an infant on max 1400£ rental while requiring one partner to travel to Central occasionally for work and the other person 3 days a week to LHR.
Some Qns:
1) Will 1 Bedroom be too cramped for the infant to grow up? Should I raise budget?
2) I prefer being in family /childcare friendly areas. Had Harrow, Acton in mind . Are they good for my budget or any other suggestions?

It's great around the tube station. Super convenient - you have your supermarkets, gym, clinics in the neighborhood. Less so further down Barking Road. The area is always busy now with all the new developments.
Modern builds with fantastic access via DLR and Jubilee lines to central london. It can get crowded because of population density.
I think its generally safe, havent seen any problems but it does get crowded because its an interchange for the tube, buses, and has supermarkets.
An alternative is Royal Wharf and/or Royal Arsenal at Woolwich

30F & I live nearby and it’s my nearest underground station, there are a few nuisance youngsters that hang around on scooters that want to steal your phone/valuables by the McDonald’s opposite the station- my flat mate almost fell victim to this late one night coming home. Bored teenagers and are generally harmless. Headline is to be vigilant late at night (as you should be anywhere in London tbh).
Been in the area for 1.5yrs and that’s been our only close call, other than that I love it, well connected into central London and lots of stores nearby as well as in Canary Wharf & Stratford.
@OP - CW for 2b2b is going for £3,500 PCM but even pre Covid it was going for around those levels. £2,200 max can get you a 1b1b or studio - studio in my building is going for £1,950 PCM. All prices quoted above is not inclusive of bills
LCI and areas around the station/along Silvertown Way are fine. Watch out for tube track noise with some of the new builds between the road and tracks, it can be unbearable in the summer
I have a friend who’s 33F and lives there. Well she moved there about a year ago now and seems to love the place, have never heard anything bad about the place. I’ve stayed over a couple of times and can say that it feels safer than life in central London
Lived in Canning town for years now.
Generally, the area around the area (City Island, Hallsville Quarter area) is quite safe. It does get a little bit dodgier the further down Barking Road you go but if you're staying near the station its generally fine.
There are incidences of phone theft around the station near McD or under the bridge near Terry Spinks Place, but is not to say as dissimilar as most parts of London. One thing however, is that bike thefts and parcel thefts are common. I've seen bike thefts outside The Gym in broad daylight and at 11pm where people break bike locks with a hammer/rock.
Generally its a good place but be wary of tube noise and road noise
I wouldn't with that kind of budget. You're probably drawn by the fancy apartments but you can always go for North west or South West for a better crime record area.
Places I'd consider in that budget for medium to high rise apartments:
Wembley Park (Ticks most boxes for most people but little out of budget)
Finchley
Collindale
Harrow on the hill
If you aren't picky on staying close to Central:
Uxbridge
Hounslow (for new builds)
I'd personally rate Canada Water/Royal Wharf/Stratford better than Canning town - just coz of the crime scene there. My friends have been pretty helpless as the gangs target same people often so its very varied experience for different people.
