I suspect the best time was two years ago, but the second best time is now.

Best time was probably more like 4-5 years ago.
Ignore all the folks saying your time has passed. Skill is skill and if a team wants it, they will buy it.
But here is the thing. Yeah, you’re tired. Are you quitting bc you’re tired? That’s a bad move. If you legit want to be in house and check it out - cool. Plenty of partners go in house too.
It’s a good title to have. You earned it. And even if you leave, no one can take it from you.
If you’re up for partner this yr of next, just stick it out

A2 obviously it’s not automatic lol that would be insane. But yes that’s when people first start making it.

Everyone that remains is on track at an up or out firm.

Only a handful of firms are truly up or out anymore. If the firm doesn’t push you out when they decide you’re not going to make partner, that’s not up or out.
Best time is 4-6 year range. Gets much harder at 8. I would move quickly. You will have tough competition from folks who spent four years learning a different fuction
