A competitor recently offered me a job that pays $1.50 more an hour than my current one. I'm thinking about using this to get a raise at my current job, but I'm a little worried about how it might go. Has anyone really been able to get a raise by saying they have another job offer? Or did it completely fail for you?

Been a coach at the collegiate level for 6 years. Make a $65k salary. Want to leave coaching and break into sales/marketing/recruiting/consulting. I have ample leadership and recruiting experience with a strong work ethic.
