Seems like there’s less red tape. The MU thing at Accenture was the biggest PoS bureaucracy engine I’ve ever seen. While the re-org is still shaking out here it’s much easier to hunt and farm what you want to eat.

Never thought I’d hear anyone say someplace has more red tape than PwC 😁
Ex ACN here. As a woman, I haven’t had the “please check your tone talk” yet which I appreciate (got that a lot at ACN). Seems to be some genuine, strong leadership here at PwC so far - equally across genders I’ve worked with. Kind of impressed.
That said, you might be in for a painful awakening if you’ve never been in public acctg. #independence
Something also that I noticed is at ACN, if there was a female MD on a strategy project, her gender would be her defining factor (“the LADY MD”). At PwC (so far - again I know I’m still relatively new so this may change), I haven’t seen special treatment or focus on a partner’s gender. It’s just (enter name), then maybe “oh, who is that?”, then “the engagement partner for xyz client” - there’s no fanfare and no highlight to her gender. It’s taken for granted that d’uh we have partners and a number happen to be male and a number happen to be female. At ACN being female was SUCH A THING. Like.. let me work 😂
M1 - that’s helpful insight. Im planning on working at PWC and I hear it’s less *toxic* than ACN.
A3, ACN does officially but, in practice, (1) you don’t always get one when you are actually on the bench doing the work (2) you may be still expected to help with that BD work after you start a crazy project (it’s a craps shoot if your team will respect that), and (3) the other plus ones you’ve been roped into don’t really think about the work commitment and each thinks it’s only 2 hours a week (but multiply by however many you got tagged to without your knowing).
Just my experience ~3 years at ACN. Had some really toxic experiences there and the above hurt my review before NGGM got us a new partner. Lots to unpack there but this is just one person’s experience so take it with a grain of salt.
My experience at PwC was the complete opposite. There’s a ton of red tape and the teams I worked with were toxic as hell. Accenture has been a breath of fresh air for me since I started a few months ago. I definitely have my share of horror stories from PwC’s culture. One good thing about PwC is they actually focus on diversity and inclusion.
Thanks for the perspective A5!
