Toronto ad fish 🤠 I’ve spent most of my career working as a copywriter in London (6 years here, 2 years Toronto) and the market is pretty different here. I’m planning on moving back home but wondered….how do you find work in Toronto? Agencies barely post openings, is the recruiter scene strong? Is it mostly who you know?

I’m a freelancer. I’ve been to many agencies, and I can honestly say the shops that use Google slides have far better work and efficiency.
Grow up and learn how to use ppt
It’s not wildly sub-par, it’s mediocre and typically only used for the presentation deck itself. If you can’t put a timeline in ppt that looks decent, that feels like an issue? Many clients expect/demand ppt, and any content in decks that needs to be designed would be imported from another program. The software used to make presentation decks is such a strange hill to die on?
It’s ugly. It’s slow. It’s not intuitive to use for design. Seriously, holding companies, do you want to fall behind?
Obviously design in whatever program you choose and then just bring it over to PPT - no one else should be editing your slides anyway, so flatten those images. Isn’t this what all ADs/designers do when asked to “design in PowerPoint”? No one actually expects you to design in PPT right???

Yes they actually do! Because we are all collaborating on it at the same time
I waste 80% of my time waiting for ppt to load when collaborating.

Work on your slides offline and then just drop them in the deck when you are done.
In terms of a universal software, it’s easy to understand and hard to master. I agree that Google slides is way better for collaboration and sharing. Many clients have not caught up to yet. It really depends on if your client is paying Google or Microsoft.
I had to do this to present work to Samsung before because they hated Google and Apple. We just worked in google slides and had a freelance designer reformat in ppt before client meetings
