Most hotels don’t ask you to complete an extensive list of chores before you check out. I think Airbnb has lost its charm long ago and have also contributed to real estate crisis.
I think some of the arguments about Airbnb's impact on housing are a bit interview overblown but I'll agree that the concept and niche they serve isn't as appealing as it used to be.
The long list of check out instructions, that if you don't follow them might result in a cleaning charge? No thank you.

Airbnbs seem to only make sense if you’re in large groups and get a house for 10+ people or traveling with pets. The cost for a couple / single traveler to utilize Airbnb is comparable to a hotels prices but I’m expected to strip the sheets, take out the trash, etc. and pay a $250 cleaning fee???
I think they need to push back on the home owners to chill out with expectations from guests and lower fees if they want to see more usage.
I haven't used Airbnb in ages, and that's partly because of all the horror stories associated with them. It just feels like the brand is so badly damaged that they really need to do something drastic. Pushing affordability is worth trying, but in an odd way that may only reinforce why people don't feel secure using the service.
Thankfully, the few times I've used Airbnb it's gone as expected but I've also heard those horror stories.
Out of habit, I'll still check the prices when I'm planning a trip but most of the time hotels are more affordable.
Agree! Not to mention the hotels/BnBs that list themselves on Airbnb.. curious if Airbnb will address that somehow.
It's funny, I was pretty annoyed by that too. Then I did the math and it was cheaper to book the hotel room through Airbnb.
Airbnb should really lean into the character building chorin’ that lucky guests have the privilege of experiencing as part of their holiday. It’s good to go on an escape, but not to escape too far from mundane daily responsibilities.
"Tired of cleaning your own house? Clean someone else's! Only available with the Airbnb experience."
Airbnb is really only good for group trips nowadays. It is much cheaper to stay in a hotel, especially as there tacking on all these extra fees on cleaning and what not.. especially when owners are asking us to do the cleaning …

I dont think this makes sense - the real value of airbnb in my eyes is the experience. Cost efficiency isnt necessarily why id use airbnb. Hotels are much better cost wise nowadays!
Airbnb marketing has long been about positioning themselves as a competitor to hotels. You'd get the hotel experience without the exorbitant prices.
That hasn't been true for a while. No matter how nice your RV or treehouse is, it's probably not worth 3x the cost of a hotel. 😂
