How does the years of experience compare? Like did you work for 6 years in big 4 and then that translated directly as 6th year Biglaw?

No you typically lose a couple of years depending on the group you join and nature of work

Tips on transitioning from big 4 to big law? Heard it’s super rare/difficult

What practice were you in at public accounting (I assume Big4) and what area did you move into at the law firm?

Median base for my title/geo ~170 (mean ~166, 0.75 ~226).

Certs: CIPM, M365 Security Admin/Architect, AWS SOA, AN, & Security.

Vet, Inactive TS.

Highlights of the year: flew out on 12hr notice to evac E Europe-based employees & families, plugged 3 exposures before they became breaches, built TVM/privacy program from scratch, onboarded new CNAPP.

So is it just me or do people who have been doing ID for decades generally fall into one of two groups? The first group are cynical people who have been divorced, their kids hate them, etc. then the second group are BS artists who are skilled at avoiding both work and responsibility for anything?

Any big4 lawyers who transitioned to the IRS office of chief counsel (national office)? How do you like compared to big 4? I am particularly concerned about having to be in person (at the office) 2-3 days a week.

How do you transition from big 4 consulting to big law? My clients are all funds, and I do international tax consulting. I have used my connections to refer me into probably 10 big law firms and it’s not working. One most recently came back and said they aren’t interested bc I have no law firm experience. How am I supposed to get it though? I can’t go to lower ranked firms bc my clients are all “big.” … any suggestions appreciated!

I had a non traditional path out of law school because I graduated at the height of the Great Recession and my mother was seriously I’ll with cancer. I’ve worked for 2 big four firms in internal positions within compliance/regulatory for a total of 6+ years and am ready to make a move. What is my next best one? Is it totally impossible for me to go to a law firm?
