I am completing Noogler period this month. I joined in January with 3-4 years of experience and Google offered me L3 Level and despite having other offers in hand, Google didn’t negotiate. And since Google was my dream company, I joined Google thinking I’ll ask for promotion in one year and do the hardwork. Till now I wasn’t having any problem. But now it starts mentally for me. So, I referred one of my friend from my same batch of college and previous organisation. contd. in comments!
Best books about product management for a good exit to industry? I already have an MBA and PMP but looking for a refreshed perspective since it’s been years since my formal education. Currently reading “Product Managements Sacred Seven” but it’s geared toward the startup world. I am in healthcare and not looking for a startup role. TIA!!!
Job app requests most recent total comp, including detailed breakdown of base, bonus, stock, etc. Do you 1.) Provide the requested info 2.) Put something like “To be discussed during interview” or 3.) Hard pass on the gig altogether
Anyone else feel like their actual work is very disconnected from their paycheck? If I do a great job and create a ton of value for the client I’ll get a maximum of a 15% TC increase YOY (much less due to covid). Similarly if I do the absolute minimum it’s really hard to be fired since I’m in a hot market and they can’t decrease my TC without cutting my base pay (which I’m 99% sure they won’t do). And my raise/bonus won’t even necessarily be indicative of my performance anyways.
Recently left EY after 5 years and I honestly don’t know why I stayed so long. I almost doubled my salary leaving, I am treated way better in industry, don’t have to work as hard, and get to deliver actual hard dollar results by making decisions. With the PBB results I’m seeing, it was definitely the right call. And Accenture called me today offering $230k to come in at M2. Sounds like some desperation. My advice, if you absolutely don’t love consulting - leave. It made my life better.
I have a $1k referral credit for anyone who is moving to StuyTown and contacts me by Monday. BTW, StuyTown is awesome.
Share instances where you wanted to say “THAT’S WHAT SHE SAID” when something was said on a conference call. Bonus points if you actually did.
Currently interviewing for a designer role at Tesla - wanted some advice. The hiring manager has seemed uninterested and always dropped off interviews early and without answering any of my questions. He also mentioned that he's lost 4 designers from the team recently (red flag!). I think it'd be a cool role, but it sounds like I'd be the only designer and there's not a ton of support, BUT if I do well - lots of room for growth and promotion. Plus internal transfers after a year also an option?
Coming in as a C at Deloitte in human capital, 4 years of experience, 3 being fed consulting. What salary should I aim for? Have a masters as well.
Mck 🐠: Looks like McK hires laterals into AP roles. What are the downsides to being a lateral associate partner? Is progression slower? How about compensation? Typically what years of exp do APs have?
I have a good offer outstanding from a tech firm (350K TC) and just got connected to a recruiter from one of the alternative investment firms (PE/Hedge/VC 35bn AUM) in NYC and it seems they want to go through the process with me. The base range given is 350K (excluding bonus and others). TC wise.. I'd like to try and see how far I can go but the tech firm is something that I really like. Is working at PE or hedge fund considered a prestige experience? YoE 14 all in consulting. Worth trying?

Have a little less than 1YOE at my firm (started in Sept) - is it a bad idea to apply now or should I wait to the 1YOE mark? Would it be a bad idea to cold apply? Don't want to miss out entirely on the hiring spree but also worried about being dinged due to relatively little experience. I don't have a lot of connections at the firms but can probably pull together a referral in the next few months with some networking.
Any fish familiar with Apple's OPD group? Thoughts on potential exit and expected base comp? MBA with 5 YOE, seems like it might be a step down from MBB Associate comp but tempted by tech exit and work life balance...
Came across a role at Deloitte in Richmond, VA today called HRST Talent Culture & Change Management Specialist. Can anyone give me insight into the type of role this is, day to day, comp, etc?
Moving to Houston next year. What kind of salary range would I be looking at as a consultant or senior consultant at Deloitte in the Regulatory Risk group? I’m a CPA with PA and industry experience.
Who are the best people at agencies to connect with if you're a Production Company looking to work with them? Is it Creative Directors, Is it Producers, Production Managers? Pre-Covid I would sit in lunch meetings with Production companies but really who would get those companies in the door and paid?
Anyone in Anthem’s Strategy Consulting (ASC) group that can give insight on the company, role, culture etc.
I am 35, currently a manager, on track to get promoted to senior manager next year. I work on post merger integration/ separation. I want to break into PE (investment team). I am currently learning the basics. How should I break in? Any advice, what role should I target
Need advice for a paper in MBA program. What’s the absolute *WORST* financial product you can think of? Insurance, annuities, mutual funds, savings accounts... (and can’t be payday loans)
Kinda disturbing how intensely some folks ordering the iPhone X are being attacked online. Why does it matter if others want a phone? It seems to be another manifestation of the culture wars.
Okay, so what do I really need for a classroom. Almost graduate on a budget, here! What are some really amazing supplies or must-haves you have in your classroom?
Have a skills interview with Accenture tomorrow for there transaction group. Any idea what I should expect?
Is your organization planning to require employees be vaccinated? I understand why management wants this but concerned about losing good employees because they don’t believe in vaccination or are wanting to wait until more people have been vaccinated to see if there are issues with it. I’m also concerned with moral if we require this. Employees may get it to keep there job but hold on to some bitterness or develop anxiety over it. Am I being too soft or over analyzing?
I’m looking for copy and design freelancers for pitch and client work. Feel free to PM me your book. Big agency, good clients, hot food and clean bathrooms.
In addition to Google and Facebook requiring employees to vaccinate before return to office, Netflix, BlackRock, Morgan Stanley, Saks Fifth Avenue, the Washington Post, Ascension Health, Uber, Twitter and Lyft launched similar policies. Seems like corporate America finds mandatory vaccination as good business.
ITW Illinois Tool Woks is another loser. I'm sharing all active trades. this is another re-opening trade. I opened this at the end of November, and the long is down about 45%. The trade is only down about 15% though as the shorts have been rolled a few times already. Since I have 82 more days in the long, I can roll the shorts at least 7 times and even at $1 each the trade is a small winner. If TIW even goes down another 50% it becomes a decent winner.
I recently accepted an offer at Wayfair start date 3/15. As soon as I accepted a dream job has now come up that is fully remote and is more inline with what I want to do (tech). What do I do? Should I push out my start date at Wayfair or do I just start with them on 3/15 and see if I get an offer at the tech company?
Hey McKinsey Fish! Is there any real luck of applying to a job on the website? I applied to an implementation role that I know I would be qualified for but without any referral. Been a few weeks so was just hoping to atleast see a rejection 😁
Should I ask for a raise? My 6-month review is next week and I’m thinking about asking for a raise. I’ve never asked for one before and normally would never think of asking for one until at least 12 months but in the last couple of months my role and responsibilities have enhanced significantly. I don’t have much experience as this is my first job in advertising (comms background) and I don’t want to come off as naive or ignorant! Any advice would be welcomed. Thank you!
Can I count my Cognizant work experience as a consulting experience, where I’m sitting in a client office and doing a business analyst work?
Does conflicts ever not clear? I am currently adverse to an institutional client of the new firm. The firm does not represent that client in that case. Is this a cause for concern or can they just wall me off?
What's a good way to tell a potential case (that's expected to be crazy in hours and has brutal travel) that you're working on MBA apps and need a little time on weekday evenings and weekends?
Anyone have hertz discount codes? All I have is the Marriott one but it’s not giving much of a discount. Thanks!!
