Got one recently. 200 in hotel credit, 200 in airline incidentals. 15 a month in streaming services. If you play it right it's a wash before you even get to the points. I'm all for it as I save up points for the honeymoon
-24 year old consultant
Yes
If you travel the lounge benefits and Clear (with tsa precheck) are worth it, uber credit and entertainment credit add up to make even. Amex plat usually offers 100k points for SU so 125k is a good deal even though I occasionally see 150k (hard to find)
I have the gold and got 80000 points and yes it was totally worth it. If they have this deal still, I’ll probably grab the platinum too😂 My friend is studying abroad and Japan and Im too tall not to be in Business Class for a 13 hr flight.
The gold is my most used card, I’d say only get the platinum if you have gold already honestly because of the consistent food spend. Then use those points to maximize the travel perks the platinum offers
I would definitely go gold first! I had gold for years and recently I was offered platinum for $295 per year with same benefits of the $695.
The gold card is essentially free with the monthly credits, platinum is hefty got the 150k offer, it’s worth but only because I’m traveling a bit. If you’re not then not sure of the benefit truly
Try it for a year. Just the memberships alone cover the first year. If you don’t use any of them just cancel the card or downgrade to another.
Unless you travel a lot or have big purchases coming up, dont get this card. Get the GOLD, that gives you dining credit and travel credit but only downside is no lounge access
Also EY gets $150 off from the annual fee so it’s actually only $545, you get $100 off for gold as well
You gotta call or text them and give them your company card info, some reps will reject your request bc you didn’t apply through the corporate advantage website but you’ll just need to keep calling
The card is only worth the hype if you can utilize all the perks that it offers. However, given the signup offer points, IT’S ABSOLUTELY WORTH IT!
Use the points to experience a business, even first class seat if you can find one, on an int’l flight (Asia, Europe or Africa; I save biz class for long legs only, 8hr flights and above imo), and hotel.
After the first year you can downgrade (not cancel) the card to a no-annual fee one if you think the fee doesn’t justify the perks anymore.
Its worth it if you travel. Great perks for upgrades, airport loubges, etc
Amex points are worth, on average, 2.2 cents per point (I've hit as high as 6 cents per point and as low as 1 cent per point, generally averaging around 4 cents as I convert to other programs). This would put your points value alone at $2,750. You're over 3x the annual fee just in the welcome offer. I'd go for it.
The good Plat offer is 150k points. I might hold off for a bit and see if that returns.
For me
-$200 Uber Cash
-$200 flight incidentals / upgrades (I get partner into the lounge 4x/yr)
-$240 streaming credit
- $100 Global entry every cycle
-Delta + other lounge access (I’m a big delta guy)
More than justifies the annual fee IMO
Not even getting into what I deem secondary perks like Saks fifth Ave credit, CLEAR, Resy, Shoprunner, Fine hotels and resorts credit
Bad offer for plat card, call and ask for the 240-250k bonus
