Any BigLaw triathletes? Former D1 endurance athlete, starting to get back into serious competition (this will be my first triathlon). How do you make the time for serious training?

A litigation associate in my office and a transactional partner in another office did Ironmans. It’s possible but my sense is that both of them didn’t have time to do much beyond work and train. Like anything else you have to work around it.

First year trainee here. Having the standard wobbles but generally surviving.

My question is - how can I tell if I'm doing well? More specifically, what common and avoidable mistakes (specific or general) do trainees make, and what attitude or actions impress you?

Recently overheard some associates complaining about another trainee and now I have the fear... I want to get this right. Thanks in advance.

From a vault ranking perspective, is it safe to assume V100 is all sweatshop big law? Reason I ask is because I want to lateral but not to a gunning big law firm — want to stay in big law but not at the ones at the top of the food chain like I am now. Want some sort of work life balance and wondering if the “lower ranked” big law firms offer this? Could just be my fantasy though…

I have ADD and occasionally make small mistakes in my work, like leaving a word missing when editing sentences, small formatting errors or leaving an internal comment in drafts sent to clients. All partners have been very understanding and care about the quality of my work, and no client has ever complained. Partners and clients praise my work.

But now, one partner has become super mad and when I explained ADD, he said:

Beginning to consider going in house (4th, corp) - I really haven’t thought about what I want, partly because I’m not sure what’s out there/attainable. Is it a bad idea to start by applying to a couple positions that interest me and seeing where that gets me? I’ll of course prep for the interviews but am afraid to burn potential bridges if I ultimately decline because I’m still figuring things out.
