This was easier a few years ago.
A lot of ppl also went the Consulting => MBA => commercial PM => full PM path.
I did this move directly from consultant (L9) to product manager at a tech company almost 4 years ago now. I caught the tail end of the good market.
It was difficult back then, but it’s extremely tough now. Damn near impossible even because of how compressed the tech job market is and there are many people with top tier PM experience on the market so it’s super competitive on top of everything else
Yes went from consultant to product, no issues
I'm on the same path, many people I know did it. Many transferable skills from consulting, but the market is tough. Everyone i know did it years ago .
Very hard unless you have any technical skills. Strategy and Ops is a better bet for you.
Same way as any other tech job. Get a referral and then apply to a role that says s&o at a tech company
Hello guys. Any Consultant in Paris?
I just moved to Paris 1 year ago and still not been able to get an accounting role. I don't know if the reason is because I only have experience in from English speaking countries. Any help?
If you aren't technical it's a difficult move, but let's assume you are the real issue isn't getting there, it's if in 4 years you think I don't want to do this anymore, Product Management is a bit of a cul-de-sac so you will almost certainly have to reverse your career (in terms of pay and seniority) if you want to pivot from there.
Not an issue if you love it, but something to consider if it's just a "port in a storm" to get out of where you are today
