Go into the dentist office and don't leave until they see you. Warn everyone else there that they do surprise billing practices. Squeaky wheel gets the grease

like

Many states have surprise billing regulations for exactly this issue. Check if you state has this. And then follow up with your insurer. This is an issue with your insurer, not just the providers

like

Thanks. I’ll look into it

Start blasting them on yelp, Facebook and other review places to increase the likelihood they cut you a deal.

In both cases, I’ve sent emails and now mail - they aren’t responding. The dentist does not even pick up the phone. Annoyed because I know if they just don’t respond and I don’t pay - it will hit my credit and doubt I can fight it there

Take it up with your insurance provider and see what they say. And then definitely file an ethics complaint with your jurisdiction; whether it's some medical oversight board or with the state AG.

I would say - did you also verify directly with your insurance network that the provider was in network? ZocDoc can often be wrong. I had a provider that almost tried to charge me 3k bc of this.

Yeah that’s what my provider said, too, and Lo and behold they were wrong

EY High Deductible Health Plan vs Open Access Select (don’t have EY bowl access yet) I just started at the firm and am trying to pick my healthcare. I don’t really ever go to the Dr so I’m thinking of getting the High Deductible plan. My question is, what does it mean that it’s not a “national network (Is this a national network?: No)” but it’s “network coverage: see any licensed doctor”? Those seem to contradict. Also HSA vs FSA, as a healthy 26yo, which is right for me (High D only has HSA)

This is because I’m gonna start maxing out my 401K, HSA, Roth, and buying company stocks (which I didn’t do before). Damn those things add up quickly! 😭 120K - 9K FICA tax - 20K Federal tax - 19.5K max 401k - 6K Roth - 2.6K HSA - 8K company stock = 54K/year. 🤪
