Refer the case to a good PI lawyer and get a 50% referral fee without ever having to lift a finger. I get cases from ID lawyers all the time. Plus you don’t have to share the $$ it all goes in your pocket.
In what jurisdiction do PI lawyers pay a 50% referral fee? Otherwise, sound advice.
Don’t know how a malpractice carrier or your firm would just be okay with litigating on the side.
“Business conflicts” can be a nightmare aka the partners that have the insurance work don’t want their insurance clients knowing the firm also takes on PI cases. These aren’t real conflicts and you should push back if it gets to that point.
We did both at my previous firms and coexisted for the most part just fine
You could get your firm DQ from significant cases. Then you’d get fired.
Most large ID firms aren’t going to be okay with you doing that. The only times I’ve seen them allow it is when it’s you or a family member.

Yes. I only do med mal defense and do other personal injury plaintiffs work on the side.
