By reminding yourself that some partners are unreasonably critical people who you should avoid working for, and that others use unfair reviews to justify not paying you the money they made on your billables.
Would 100% agree on the aspect that there are partners that do it to justify *their* behavior!
I checked in with a partner not in my group and told him how the review went. That was a really good thing because he confirmed that some of what was said to me was ridiculous and unacceptable and that started a track record I could refer to later when the same reviewer was ridiculous with me. Crazy partners have a reputation among their colleagues. So it’s good for other people to know what’s happening to you. Helps you build a support network.
Honestly, I think it means you should get out. There is likely no future for you in a firm where a partner has it out for you.
TA1—this seems extreme.
Do you really think it is possible for ALL the partners to like you? Don’t some people make partner even when some partners don’t like them?
If everyone left a firm when a single partner had an issue with them, nobody would stay anywhere.
Hi there was a similar thread on this topic yesterday that included some really helpful (I think) feedback. Good luck
Thank you. Its a little encouraging to see that it might not be that uncommon to have unreasonable people giving harsh reviews. I also don’t think a review should be used to vent (without any prior criticism to my face and acting like everything is fine all year) - it just feels slimey.
