While I can’t speak to Houston specifically I’ve been an internal consultant at two major health systems, one in Texas
70-80k for consultant; 90-120k for senior depending on experience
Consultants are usually paid as much as a director depending on the director level (hospital, regional, to your point size of hospital etc)
However we don’t get same perks as management like better PTO or parking and sometimes bonuses
No; it actually wasn’t. The key is negotiation. Within both teams I’ve seen the comp vary for each role. Also, based on your title, I think you may be able to go a little higher if I think about the experience the ppl in their current roles. Def no more than 130k though imho def would like to know what you end up with
Choice of corporate vs hospital will translate into career path. At hospital, you’ll have relationships with and investment with a specific C suite team. If it’s a good team and they are rising in their own careers, there is lots of benefit. Counterpoint is that from the corporate role, you’d have more exposure to more executives, but potentially at a superficial level.
If you want a central strategy and PI role for your career, likely go corporate. If you envision yourself someday in the c suite of a hospital, go hospital. My 2c.
What types of roles are these internal to the systems ?
Operations, not Strategy.
