Any suggestions for how to deal with an incompetent and unethical firm owner? Just started this job a few months ago and don’t want to employment hop too much for fear of looking unstable.

If there are ethics issues, get out of there. Employment hopping is better than a disciplinary record with the Bar.

This happened to me recently. Wildly deceptive in the interview and it’s nauseating everyday. I landed a new job that completely understood and had several recruiters and interviews with several firms that all also understood more than I ever would have expected. Don’t suffer - start looking.

They will only bring you down and make you question your ethics or they might pull you in. Call them out, document your account of what happened in case they fire you. Find another job before you quit!

Don’t worry about the amount of time if you’ve had longevity at jobs in the past. You can explain in an interview that you started at this firm, realized immediately it was a bad fit, and have been looking around for that reason. You can emphasize you don’t job hop, this is just an unusual situation, and you hope to be at your next job for many years.

I have been working as Travel Nurse and I have been extending my contract working locally because it’s close to home but I am ready to go. The toxic environment is really affecting me. Being around negative people has me not loving my job. Every morning I wake up debating if I should call off and stay home. Is there any one else feeling this way? Especially a contract/agency worker

I’m so bad at writing the background/ facts section for briefs… it always gets heavily edited and no one is giving me constructive feedback other than “advocate more”. In contrast, my legal argument section is generally without edits. For context, first defense lit job post appellate clerkship. Is this normal?? Any tips for getting better other than “advocating more”?
