Anyone else feel like finance is now judged more on credibility than precision? I’ve stopped chasing the “perfect” forecast and started chasing numbers leadership actually trusts.

Show me one forecast that was perfect…. That’s why you shouldn’t chase perfect

I’ve noticed leadership already has their targets in mind before even seeing our models.

Ideally, it should all be based on credibility. If you just watch CNBC you'll see people come on giving forecasts that turn out to be wildly wrong. And a year later they're back on camera, giving new wrong advice. It's best to evaluate the numbers yourself and use some common sense.

Leadership should trust your numbers are best, I can’t tell you how many times they’ve went on their own and ended up wrong while my forecast was much closer. It’s our job to guide leadership to the right numbers, not be the check mark for their unrealistic ambitions

No forecast is going to be perfect. As long as you feel comfortable with the amount of research you've done then it should be okay.

Hey All,
I finished a third round interview, and HR contacted me that afternoon saying I had positive feedback across the board and they would contact me the next day regarding next steps. It’s been two days and they finally get back to me saying they haven’t been able to sync with the hiring manager but will keep me posted. Honestly I wish they would talk with the hiring manager and then let me know the decision instead of checking in. It’s messing with my emotions.

Is IB worth the sacrifice of WLB? Obvious pay is really good but are the prestige and pay worth it if you’re planning on only doing it for a couple years?

Currently working at an IRA with great WLB. Honestly I love my job, the firm, and people I work with.

Also doing MBA part time at a T15 school. Thinking about switching to IB but I’ve done my research and I think I would burn out of IB in two years but I might be ok with that for the opportunities after.
