I am a big fan of Doyle.
This post made me uncomfortable.
I understand her point that ultimately we don't have to justify our life to anyone else.
However, in the context of a lived gay life it's really tone deaf.
From 12 years old until 26 I made a choice for my family to love me. I chose to date boys/men.
I chose to not properly love. To properly have sex. To properly live because that's what homophobia and a society that will punish you for your "born this way."

Only someone with the privilege of choosing how others view and treat her could make a statement like that one. -someone who “passes”
I’m an average Jane and I really identify with what she’s saying. I’ve never felt that I “can’t help it” or even that I was born this way. It’s just what I want. I get how this is a problematic message, but I appreciate a narrative that isn’t “I can’t help it!/why would I choose this!?” I would choose this.
And this is coming from Glennon Doyle who actually has a platform to educate the types of folks who believe in conversion “therapy” / torture
