It doesn't keep me up at night, but it is something I've become way more aware of over the years. I was rearended last year on a seemingly safe stretch of road and it opened my eyes to just how bad and distracted drivers are here. It's scary when you stop to think about it. We're careening around in thousands of pounds of metal and way too many people can't be bothered to do so safely.

True! You don’t really think about it until something happens, and then you realize how many people on the road aren’t paying attention. It’s scary how careless some drivers can be.
I have an issue with this, too. I watch some of the craziest things happen, and my commute is only 10 minutes! People are blatantly doing dumb things on the road. I have to be hyper vigilant and just assume every driver is going to do the dumbest thing possible out there.

I’ve just learned to expect the unexpected because some drivers really have no common sense on the road.
Yes. This is something I have worried about for a long time. Usually during the quiet of the night is when my mind can drift off and worry about things like this. I also worry about my family being in accidents. Probably because they drive more than me. I will say it is worth it to wait 3 seconds after your light turns green to go through the intersection. Lately I have seen so many people speeding through the intersection just after my light has turned green and it really could have been bad if I just rushed to go as soon as my light turned.
You just have to stay aware of your surroundings constantly. And not be emotionally reactive and drive at a moderate pace yourself and don’t go in and out of traffic. Unfortunate part of the commute that we have to deal with the best we can.

You’re right, it really just comes down to staying alert and keeping your cool. The commute can be annoying, but all we can do is drive smart and get through it the best we can.
I have driven in NYC, LA, Sydney, and some of the other worst cities in the world. Worst drivers I have ever seen are in Lubbock, Texas.
It is scary that, through no fault or action of our own, we could be in a dangerous, expensive situation and have to deal with it.
My current drive is literally 4 traffic lights. My pet peeve is, the other day I was running late, and got ALL FOUR red lights. But for any situation, not a lot to do but be aware and stay as safe as possible.
Pro
Totally! Even a short drive can be a headache with bad drivers and back-to-back red lights. Just gotta stay alert.
I’m used to bussing. I have to adjust. Cause I have local buses. Even if I have to walk an hour at per closing shift. I will. I use to live on the transit where buses ran all the time. But it’s closer to everything . It’s nice to not sleep on the buss. I rather save money to get home even if that means biking in the summer walking.
